Brief Description: “Fix Your BS” is a song written and produced by Zvon Casanova. The track was written and produced in one weekend amidst social distancing during the COVID-19 outbreak. It is considered one of Zvon’s slower and more experimental tracks as it strays away from his pop-punk roots yet still incorporating some of its influence.
Background: Zvon wrote “Fix Your BS” as a “getaway song” to counter his boredom from being quarantined at home and to assess the change in his vocal style after getting braces. At the time of writing its lyrics, Zvon originally wrote the chorus’ main lyric of “fix your broken self” as “fix your fuckin’ self,” however it made the song sound aggressive. Zvon wanted the song to sound grieving while remaining practical in its declaration, thus he revised the chorus to give the message of fixing one’s broken character. Zvon describes “Fix Your BS” as “a heartbreak summer song that Ed Sheeran would write and produce if he turned pop-punk." He states, “ultimately, the song personifies immaturity.”
Trivia: In the opening of the track, a clip of voices and camaraderie can be heard in the background. This was ripped from a vlog Zvon recorded with his friends back in 2013. Zvon makes a reference to one of his old songs “Love Steady” during the second verse. “This song [Fix Your BS] is basically a follow-up track to Love Steady,” Zvon said.
Lyrics:
Last night, you were on your phone
More than normal, a bit unusual
I spoke, you couldn’t handle it
A mile away, came a broken promise
What’s wrong? Are you dead?
You know how this works
Not with silent treatment
Just set me free and I will be
Better off without you
You’re drunk with excuses, girl
Fix your broken self
You’re drunk with excuses, girl
Fix your broken self
I’m not the one, another turn in line
You tried to hide but your secrets came to life
You’re drunk with excuses, girl
Fix your broken self
Don’t lie, you need time alone
Cut the blacklist, cut the bullshit
Save face, and you will always be
Just another girl who can’t love steady
Was it only a kiss? Is he only a friend?
Stop tryna justify cheatin
Just set me free and I will be
Better off without you
You’re drunk with excuses, girl
Fix your broken self
You’re drunk with excuses, girl
Fix your broken self
I’m not the one, another turn in line
You tried to hide but your secrets came to life
You’re drunk with excuses, girl
Fix your broken self
